Kid “Date Night”

If your house is anything like my house, “We’re going on a date” is instantly followed by many, “WHYYYY???”‘s and “Can we come?”‘s and “I don’t want you to LEEEEAVE!!!”‘s. To help, we’ve put together a little somethin’-somethin’ for your kids while you and the hubs get that much needed togetherness time! I present to you, the “Kid Date Night” envelope!
Now, this will ONLY work if you DO NOT let them EVER play with the contents of this envelope unless you are on a date! There are 2 games here that are tried and true, kid tested and approved, that are sure to be a HUGE hit with your kids! Kids LOVE to play these two games. They love them so much in fact that they will be BEGGING you to go on your next date! Again, this only works if you save these games for DATE NIGHT ONLY. 
First, you need this: Envelope Printable
Attach it to a manilla envelope. Make sure this envelope appears somewhere in your children’s view on “date night” day so that they can look forward to it! I like to set mine out on the counter right at breakfast time so that they are excited all that day.
Now, what are the goods inside this wonderful envelope you ask?? Well, I have two, FREE activities for you. Just do either one or the other, and save the next one for the next date night!
{I like to put ALL of the needed supplies for whichever game I choose inside the envelope so it is all right there for the sitter when we leave.}
Game #1: Don’t Eat Pete!
Materials Needed:
*1 big bag of M&M’s
*Our game board

*The rules are simple and they are printed right there on the game board. Bada-bing bada-boom baby!
Game #2: The Kit Kat Game
Materials Needed:
*1 king-size Kit Kat bar (unless they want to play more than once, and they WILL! Then get a couple..)
*1 die
*2 butter knives
*A glove or oven mitt for the babysitter

Same thing, the rules are printed right there. They are explained simply so your babysitter will know just what to do.
And the last thing to do, but DEFINITELY not the least, HAVE FUN ON YOUR DATE!

Walk in Integrity

Talking about the Word isn’t enough; we need to do what we say we believe. God will bless us if we are people of integrity. As believers, we need to keep our promises and do what we say we will do.
Look for ways to demonstrate integrity today. If you can’t follow through with something you said you would do for someone, at least call or write a letter, saying, “Please forgive me; I was not being led by God, and I just cannot do what I said.” This way you will honor God and keep your steps going in the right direction.

Run Your Race
Today’s Scripture:
Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. – 1 Corinthians 9:24, NKJV.
Today’s Word:
So many people today spend valuable time and energy trying to make everyone around them happy. They want to be approved, accepted and affirmed. There’s nothing wrong with that, but you can’t let the opinions of others become your focus or distract you from what God has called you to.
In the natural, when a professional runner races, you don’t see them looking around at the other runners, wondering how they are doing. No, they have their mind focused on one thing: the finish line. They don’t waste valuable energy comparing themselves or wondering what’s going on around them. Instead, they focus on winning the prize. This is how we should be in life—focused on winning the prize of the victor’s crown in life.
My challenge to you today is: run your race. Don’t let people squeeze you into their mold. Remember, you don’t have to try to play up to people. You don’t have to worry about what everyone else thinks. As long as you’re being true to what God has put in your heart, don’t look to the left or to the right. Stay focused on your goals. Run your race to win and honor God in everything that you do!
Prayer for Today:
Father, today and every day I set my focus on you. I declare that I will not look to the left or to the right, but I will fix my eyes on Jesus, the Author and Finisher of my faith. Give me wisdom and grace as I dedicate every area of my life to You in Jesus’ name! Amen.

Our Daily Bread – Well Prepared
Read: Ephesians 6:10-20
The idea of always being prepared makes me think of the man who lived next door to us when I was growing up. When Mr. Nienhuis came home, he never failed to back his car into the garage. That seemed unusual to me until my mother explained that Nels was a volunteer fireman. If he got a call, he had to be ready to race to the fire station. He backed in so he could leave quickly when he had to report for duty.
To be well prepared is important in so much of life. “If I had 8 hours to chop down a tree, I’d spend 6 sharpening my axe,” said Abraham Lincoln. We prepare for a career by studying. We buy insurance in case of a car accident or a house fire. We even prepare for the end of life by making a will to provide for loved ones.
The Bible tells us we must prepare ourselves spiritually as well. We do that by putting on spiritual armor to protect ourselves from spiritual attack (Eph. 6:10-20); by preparing our minds for holy living (1 Peter 1:13); by making sure we’re always prepared to answer questions about the reason for the hope we possess (3:15); and by ensuring that we are ready for the promised return of Jesus (Matt. 24:44).
How well prepared are you for what lies ahead? Unsure? Ask the Lord for His help and guidance.
